Generally seen in the lower half of the body, i.e. legs and buttocks, cellulite is the condition where the skin appears to have that orange peel affect in certain areas. Most women carry excess fats in thighs and buttocks, but cellulite is not confined to the overweight as it is in actuality, the lumpy substance that looks more like cottage cheese that forms beneath the skin.
Fat beneath the surface of the skin pushes against connective tissue causing it to give that dimpled look referred to as cellulite. In reality, nobody knows the real reason why some people accumulate cellulite and not others, but there are some factors that health experts are considering such as the structure of the fat cells or toxins that enter the body.
One thing is certain tough and that is as a persons age increases, the amount of cellulite increases also in the same way that wrinkles also form which is probably due to the reduction of the two components that keep the skin looking young; collagen and elastin. Whilst many would disagree, cellulites are often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never suffer with this condition.
Even women who do not appear to have cellulites may have them and sometimes this is visible when the skin is compressed as in the case of squatting or when it is pinched between the thumb and forefinger; however as most women suffer with at some stage it seems to be a perfectly normal condition. Just how much cellulite a person has will depend on a number of factors like, age, gender, genetics and even the thickness and type of skin they have will affect how easily it can be seen.
As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes cellulite, it makes it difficult creating a cure for it even though a number have been tried including cellulite burning creams. Where cellulites removal massage is offered at a clinic, all that is done is deep tissue massage which just masks the affect so it cannot be seen as readily.
Another technique used to remove cellulite, but not that successfully, is liposuction which is used to remove excess fat in the body but a method called mesotherapy which injects chemicals into the fat cells is still too expensive for most people. The problem is liposuction is not designed for removing this type of fat but for deeper fat and not that stuck in connective tissue so cannot claim to be a best treatment fro the condition.
For people who are prone to cellulite, there are no magic cellulites treatments for selective cellulite removal but there are now a number of creams on the market which are designed to help hide the effect cellulite brings. The most successful regimes so far are to adopt regular exercise, a good nutritious low-fat diet plan and reduce extra weight where possible.
Many toxins that accumulate in the body can be flushed out with regular amounts of water which some believe is still an effective way to keep the body free of harmful substances including the toxins which help with the formation of cellulites.
